Curious about Amberwood’s history? Come learn about this place we call home. AVRA members are invited to a presentation on local history and culture by the Goulbourn Museum, Monday, February 23rd, in ALE’s Scenic Room.
Who were the Algonquin Anishinabeg and Mississauga Anishinabeg peoples? What did the first negotiations for trade, diplomacy and land between indigenous people and newcomers look like? Who were the 100th Regiment and what challenges did they and other settlers face clearing and farming the land? What was daily life like in the early settler communities of Stittsville, Munster and Richmond. What did clothing and accessories from the Victorian and Edwardian eras say about class work and lifestyle?
Goulbourn Museum Education and Visitor Services Officer Alyssa Gutoski will share knowledge, images and artefacts from the Goulbourn Museum.
